Tom Forrestall C.M., O.N.S., B.F.A. LL.D., RCA; was born in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia on March 11th, 1936. He grew up in the towns of Middleton and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and began to attend weekend art classes at the Nova Scotia College in Halifax.
In 1954 Forrestall was awarded an entrance scholarship to the Fine Arts Faculty at Mount Allison University, and graduated from in 1958. At Mount Allison he met Natalie LeBlanc. He received a Canada Council Grant for independent study, got married and traveled through Europe with his wife, Natalie (LeBlanc) Forrestall. As an artist, Tom Forrestall is one of the leading figures associated with the visual arts of the Maritime region.
