Stephanie Kossmann was born in New Jersey and raised in a coastal town on the south shore of Massachusetts. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Geography and Studio Arts at Boston University and a graduate certificate in Positive Organization Development at Champlain College. She worked for a mapping company prior to taking a position with the United States Federal government (posted initially in Toronto, Ontario then in Vermont). She moved from Vermont to Nova Scotia in 2022.

Stephanie’s artwork balances a need for creative expression and critical thinking. She combines oil painting and printmaking methods to express complex emotional themes.

In 2023, Stephanie is focused on a grant-funded exploration of the universal themes discovered during her previous project "Living Space: Portraits through Appreciative Inquiry". "Living Space" was featured in the Times Argus for a 2022 solo show at the Nuquist Gallery in Montpelier, Vermont. Stephanie was featured in the Vermont Art Guide as a 2018 Artist to Watch, and in in Seven Days for the 2017 Sexual Violence Awareness Art Show. She also provided the cover artwork for the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival’s tenth anniversary program and as a presenter at the 2019 fundraising luncheon for Mercy Connections.

ARTSPLACE’s vision is to share stimulating work and strengthen artistic life in our region.
