Paulette Melanson lives in Lunenburg. She grew up in the Acadian village of Scoudouc, NB. In 1985 she moved to NS for work and to learn more about her Acadian ancestors. She discovered that she was a direct descendant of Charles Melanson and Marie Dugas, founders of Melanson Settlement in 1664 near Port-Royal and that Pierre Melanson (Charles' brother) and his wife Marguerite Mius d'Entremont were the founders of Grand Pré.
Her works include landscapes and abstract paintings inspired by nature, her Acadian heritage as well as the environment where she resides (southern NS and Grand Pré during the summer).
