Outreach in the Community

ARCAC brings arts programs to the community through our core activity as well as special programs . We have a working relationship with the local schools to bring students to the gallery to experience exhibitions and meet artists. We offer our main gallery space biennially to four schools in the area, to present the work of their students; giving them the experience of installing a show and exhibiting in a professional space. We have worked with local seniors homes to bring arts workshops to residents through Studio-a-Go kits, which were made available for teachers and encompass lesson plans as well as basic supplies.

Recently, we have worked with local artists through a variety of different models to mentor young students and have encouraged collaborations between students and artists to create new work.

In past years, we have been the recipients of New Horizons grants, which  enabled us not only to offer workshops and demonstrations to seniors but to employ senior artists to deliver those workshops. We have plans to incorporate an artist-in-residence program, one of which will be tailored to senior professional artists.

As well as presenting the work of contemporary visual artists, ARTSPLACE is committed to fostering an appreciation of all arts, as well as professional contemporary art, to the community. We look for ways to involve our community in the arts to enrich and broaden their experiences, as well as educate audiences and potential audiences in art expression.

ARTSPLACE’s vision is to share stimulating work and strengthen artistic life in our region. Creating environments for art and arts practitioners to thrive is key to our work, as is supporting audiences in their growth, awareness, and excitement about art.
