Montreal-born and raised, now based in Annapolis Royal, NS, artist Jennifer A. Goddard works primarily in oils and multi-medium drawing. She focuses primarily on landscapes, portraiture and the languages of the figure, drawing on 18 years studying classical and contemporary dance and a lifelong, intense connection with the natural world. Largely self-taught, at age 15 Jennifer received the Louis Muhlstock scholarship to study painting at the Banff Centre, Alberta, subsequently returning for two more summer intensives. After completing her degree in Graphic Arts, she studied under various teachers while pursuing a career as Creative Writer and Director in advertising. In 2015-16 she studied with Michelle Nicole Tully and David Baird at three portrait/figure intensives at Studio Escalier in Paris and Argenton, France. She has shown in many solo and group exhibitions, and has collectors in Canada, the US and in Europe. Her work was selected for the 2018 Lyon-based Circle Arts Quarterly Magazine as well as the U.S. Manifest Gallery INDA and INPA annuals (2015-16). In 2014 and 2015 she was shortlisted for the BP Portrait Award in London UK, and was a finalist exhibiting in the 2015 Kingston Portrait Prize gallery tour.
