Student Employment Opportunity: Annual 

June to August

The Annapolis Region Community Arts Council (ARCAC), Annapolis Royal, is hiring Summer Students for the roles of Assistant to the Gallery Director and Assistant Project Coordinator. Applicants can be recent High-School Graduates but must be registered for a full-time accredited secondary or university program the following academic year, students must also be a permanent resident of Nova Scotia or have resided in the province for at least six months prior to this work term.

Applicants must show a keen interest in the arts, community, volunteerism and be mature, organised, reliable, able to work weekends and some evenings for an 8 to 12-week period between June 1 and August 29, 2021. $13.25 / hour, 35 hours per week.

Assistant to the Gallery Director - Full-time seasonal, 35hrs/week

The successful candidate will work closely with the Gallery Director to prepare and organise materials for programs and events. They will play a major role in the organisation and coordination of our annual fundraiser Paint the Town (see webpage for info.). The student will be responsible for registering artists for Paint the Town, creating and maintaining databases, organising and coordinating volunteers for the event*, maintaining contact with the artists and ensuring that they have everything in place for the weekend in August. 
*COVID regulations have meant that Paint the Town has moved to an online event - the student will be required to use social media platforms for artist and event promotion.

General office duties will include greeting visitors, introducing them to the gallery and programs (exhibitions), telephone use, emails, social media, mail and filing.

You should be organised, familiar with Word, Excel, and email. Knowledge of Photoshop (or similar desktop publishing/graphics program) will be a bonus. The student will be expected to work some evenings and cover weekends, be flexible and able to work unsupervised. 

The Assistant to the Gallery Director position job requires a basic level of physical fitness (to assist with exhibition, program and event set-up).
