Beverley Kelly

"A painting brings Beauty into the world and into our homes, ignites our senses, and creates a narrative. It has the power to spark personal reflection and shared conversations, often transcending barriers. her paintings." Bev enjoys exploring the amazing treasures found in Nova Scotia's natural surroundings. Inspired by masters of post-impressionism, Van Gogh and Cezanne, Bev uses a subjective approach to painting, choosing symbolic colors, bold gestural strokes and optical effects to evoke an emotional response. She works mainly in acrylics but engages in a variety of art media and forms. Since childhood, Bev has expressed her view of the world through ART. She is an award-winning artist who has studied visual art, drama and education at the U of Sask, U of calgary, and the Elam School of Art, U of Auckland, (a conceptual Art School). She has taught in schools and in her home since 1991. Bev especially enjoys teaching classes for students with varied needs and cultural diversity. She enjoys painting theater sets murals and public art. Bev says, "Creativity is essential to everyone's holistic well-being. Art as therapy gives purpose to my art so art is no longer just aesthetic. Art transcends barriers."
