Alexandra Merkx-Jacques - Paint the Town 2026 | In-Town/Outdoor Artist

Alexandra Merkx-Jacques, originally from Montreal, is a self-taught painter and Ph.D.-trained molecular microbiologist. Through both science and art, she explores the beauty and complexity of nature. Influenced by her mixed cultural background and experiences living and traveling abroad, her work reflects diverse perspectives on everyday life. Founded as a way to support her creative practice, Green Monster Brushstrokes has also become a platform to challenge stereotypes about women and scientists. She lives by the motto: “Scientist by day, Artist by night, Human the whole time.”
