Adam Gunn is a painter based out of Bridgewater Nova Scotia Canada. He received a BFA from NSCAD University in Halifax, an MFA from Concordia University in Montreal, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick. He’s been the recipient of the Nancy Petry Foundation award to paint and travel in Europe, a twice semi-finalist in the RBC Canadian Painting Competition and the Nova Scotian winner in BMO’s 1st! Art Competition. He has received grants from Canada Council and the Nova Scotia Arts Council and has taught painting and drawing classes at NSCAD University, Acadia University and Concordia University

I am a painter with a deep concern for how an image is brought into being. I am specifically interested in painting because of its long history and its seductive materiality through working directly with colour. I like to think of the paintings I’m working on as collaborations with something, whether that something is the subject painted directly from observation, a chance occurrence that led to the painting/idea, or a collaboration with the paint itself.

ARTSPLACE’s vision is to share stimulating work and strengthen artistic life in our region.
Creating environments for art and arts practitioners to thrive is key to our work, as is supporting audiences in their growth, awareness, and excitement about art.

We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

The Annapolis Region Community Arts Council recognizes the support of the Province of Nova Scotia. We are pleased to work in partnership with the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage to develop and promote our cultural resources for all Nova Scotians.
