Abigail Bartell is a native Vermonter currently residing in the Northeast Kingdom and has been making art for as long as she can remember. She works in watercolor and gouache, bookmaking, collage, bike tubes, graphic design, and sculpture. Abigail received her BA in Art Education from Johnson State College (now Northern Vermont University), and her MA in Art and Design Education from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She has been teaching Visual Art to middle and high school students in Danville, Vermont for the past 14 years.
Abigail’s style combines her love of drawing and painting with a deep appreciation of the whimsical and quirky, and she loves to cause curious confusion with her art. The Collage Creature series began as a daily art practice just as the pandemic started. What began as analog collage ( turned into intricate inked and painted portraits of unimaginable creatures- all who have distinct personalities and names.
